Amina roots for science courses in varsities

Local varsities should enroll more students in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) courses to improve their practical skills and nurture them into entrepreneurs, Education Cabinet Secretary Amina Mohamed has said. Ms Mohamed said that this would bridge the unemployment gap. She spoke during the 15th ceremony of the Aga Khan University (AKU) where 68 graduates were awarded degrees in various disciplines.“We must nurture an education system that focuses on the individual and prepares them adequately for the world of work… these courses will produce the competencies we need to transform our country into a newly industrialising middle-income country,” Ms Mohamed said.Thirteen students graduated with a Diploma in Oncology Nursing, 24 with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, 18 with Master of Medicine and 13 with Master of Education degrees.
