Civil service agency on the spot over stalled projects

Auditor-General Edward Ouko said the projects in Mombasa, Baringo and Embu have stalled for between four and seven years. The KSG, the successor of the Kenya Institute of Administration, is an institution that trains all civil servants with the aim of transforming the public service delivery.

The Kenya School of Government (KSG) is on the spot over failure to complete four Sh858.3 million campus projects. Auditor-General Edward Ouko said the projects in Mombasa, Baringo and Embu have stalled for between four and seven years.The KSG, the successor of the Kenya Institute of Administration, is an institution that trains all civil servants with the aim of transforming the public service delivery.Mr Ouko said the amount includes Sh434.9 million in capital work in progress that has been brought forward from the previous years in respect of several projects.

He said the stalled Embu campus has Sh222,970,366 that has stagnated for more than four years. “Further, no project details in form of contracts and progress status have been provided for audit verification,” Mr Ouko said in a qualified audit report Leader of Majority Aden Duale tabled in Parliament on Thursday.The report shows Baringo campus has three stalled projects worth Sh26,148,334 with no progress over the past four years. The building of a conference centre in Mombasa campus has a brought forward figure of Sh185,961,116.
