Cuba
Managed Service Equipment

Lesson for health sector

While we should tread with caution in the importation of foreign doctors, their Kenyan counterparts must also show their worth. Our doctors should do some serious soul searching and ensure that they always put the Kenyan patient first.

As expected, Kenyan doctors are up in arms over the government’s decision to import health professionals from Cuba. While we should tread with caution in the importation of foreign doctors, their Kenyan counterparts must also show their worth.Their professionalism and materialism has left a lot to be desired after they frequently downed their tools, leading to immense suffering and deaths among innocent Kenyans.Few Kenyans believe they are better than the Cuban doctors and they should not be allowed to defend their spurious turf. They went against the very tenets of the Hippocratic Oath that they took to be admitted into the profession.

According to the government, the Cuban doctors are being brought in to plug existing gaps. A major criterion for their importation was the utilisation of Sh38 billion worth of Managed Service Equipment that has been lying idle in the counties. What the common Kenyan is demanding is proper delivery of health services and not bickering over salaries that only ends up costing them their lives. Our doctors should do some serious soul searching and ensure that they always put the Kenyan patient first.
