Motorists to pay slightly more for fuel in latest ERC review

NAIROBI, Kenya, May 15 – Motorists are set to pay more for fuel from Tuesday after the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) increased the prices of super petrol, diesel and kerosene in its latest review, which will be used in the next one month.

According to the ERC, the price of super petrol has gone up by 34 cents while that of diesel and kerosene went up by 78 cents and Sh1.50 per litre respectively in Nairobi.

“The purpose of the fuel pricing regulations is to cap the pump prices of the products which are already in the country so that the importation and other prudently incurred costs are recovered while ensuring reasonable prices to consumers,” Director General Robert Oimeke stated.

The ERC attributed the changes to the average landed cost of super petrol which increased by 1.18 per cent while diesel increased by 2.91 per cent and kerosene by 3.06 per cent.

In Mombasa, a litre of super petrol will be Sh103.88, diesel Sh95.35 and kerosene Sh78.22 for the next one month.

Nakuru motorists will pay Sh107.86 for super petrol, Sh99.54 for diesel and Sh79.05 for kerosene per litre.

Those in Eldoret will part with Sh109.05 per litre of super petrol, Sh100.72 for diesel and Sh80.12 for kerosene.

Kisumu motorists, on the other hand, will part with Sh109.11 per litre for super petrol, Sh100.79 for diesel and Sh80.12 for kerosene.
