Safaricom takes fast network to Taita, Kwale, Makueni and Kajiado

The Coast region has 586 base stations with 80 new ones opened in the last six months. Safaricom has also launched Fibre to Home in Bamburi, Mombasa County, which will benefit from the 4G coverage.

Safaricom has invested in two new base stations enabling Taita Taveta, Kwale, Makueni and Kajiado residents to enjoy faster Internet speeds on its 4G network.4G technology enables users to conduct realtime video-conferencing sessions, enjoy mobile TV, video-on-demand, video and audio streaming as well as remote surveillance via subscription to Over-The-Top(OTT) services. The Tsavo cluster investment gives Safaricom an added advantage as the only 4G provider in the region, earning it higher data revenues due to proven high demand for faster Internet speeds on a wide area network.“The improvements are a reflection of our smart network deployment and continuous investment in building robust systems,” said Safaricom’s Coast Region Head Fawzia Ali. Mr Ali said the base stations facilitated an upgrade of their voice, text and data network offerings and introduction new products.

Mr Ali said the new development was part of Safaricom’s annual plan to invest largely in the latest infrastructure that enables Kenyans to conduct business as well as enjoy first world lifestyles.Demand for advanced 4G services is growing nationally with companies using the Internet to dispense value-added services in education, entertainment, betting, medical treatment, payment, banking and government services among others.
